Inspiring Web Design Techniques for Your Online Business

October 26th, 2009

If you’re in the process of establishing an online business enterprise, your web design is going to need all of your attention – for quite some time, as you put together what is literally your “window to the world.” If your business is entirely online, and you don’t have a physical location or a “wood and concrete” operation, the first impression of your website will tell potential clients and customers pretty much everything they need to know.

Ideally, you should post your entire website on your own server, so you don’t have to rely on the operating hours, rules or regulations of another entity. If you don’t have much experience with coding, choose one of the simplest platforms, allowing you to work on your site without this effort taking up all of your time. If you know that any alterations to your site represent a formidable challenge, you’re much less likely to keep up with its development. Online companies such as iCapitalise can provide you with a very user-friendly option, using a WYSIWYG approach.

It’s essential that you develop an understanding of how the Internet actually works and what it takes to make your website really visible. You will want your website to appear within search results when your prospects search for something that you could provide. This is quite complex, as the search engines themselves utilise a variety of rules to determine what is appropriate and what isn’t. The process of “search engine optimisation” helps you to specify certain appropriate elements of code as well as the overall structure of your site. There are many experts in the prestigious field of website development, and you might want to check out the services of an expert virtual assistant to help you keep up with it. At the very least, you should understand the fundamentals, including what your “keywords” should be and how the content on your page should be developed.

If you remember how you used to write an essay or a thesis in school or college, where you would design and map out your content to ensure a natural progression, then you should apply the same approach to web design. You will have many different pages, with a variety of different topics covering products or services, each of which may spur further pages of associated content. Within the home page you need to have a clear description of your business, with easy to find links giving a logical path of progression for visitors to follow as they seek out your information.

Visitors rarely take the time to read all the information on your page, and this is where the term “surfing” originated. It’s said that most people tend to look for “frequently asked questions” and other areas that they can scan through quickly to get the gist of what you’re offering. Therefore, don’t forget to compile a FAQ and link to it prominently.

A blog is a very important part of an online strategy initiative, and you would do well to include one within your website. Social media is becoming very important as we go on, and your blog represents an opportunity for you to update daily news and information for prospects and interested parties. You should always ensure that you stay on top of your blog with current and up-to-date postings, and develop a close bond between yourself and any visitors which show up. If you’re clever about the type of content you include, you could end up creating your own social “buzz.”

Even though you may only have an online presence, visitors will be looking for reassurance before they do business with you, and because of this, you should include your contact details in a visible position for when this trust is established. Take a photograph or two of the owner and key staff, as this helps to add a human touch to your site. The customer service contact number is essential and a physical address is highly recommended.

Once your website is up-and-running, make sure that it’s maintained on a very regular basis. You should learn as much as you can about professional SEO, and get to know software packages that allow you to analyse your visitors. The analytics program accessed via the Google website is a great and free tool, enabling you to set up goals and events that can help you to see whether certain promotions are working for you.

How Can Blog Software Reviews Help You?

March 31st, 2009

One of the great things about working on the Internet is the fact that you’re going to have a lot of options that are available to you. One of the options that most people have a difficult time choosing, however, is which blog software they are going to use in order to build their website. Since there are so many different types of software that are available, it is usually a good idea for you to look at some of the blog software reviews online.

These will help you to see what each of these types of software brings to the table, along with helping you to determine which one will help you the most in your business. Although there are almost unlimited options that are available, some of the main things that you should look at whenever you are checking out the blog software reviews are what kind of options are available for RSS feeds, along with whether they are easy to administer. RSS, which stands for real simple syndication is going to allow you to get your blog out to more people in a shorter period of time. Some people will subscribe to your blog and will be notified whenever you add new information automatically via the RSS script. Almost all blogs contain this but it would be a mistake for you to choose one that happened to be lacking in this area.

The administration of the blog is also very important and this is one of the main areas that the blog software reviews are going to focus. One of the reasons why people go with blogs is because of the simplicity of building a website using this type of software. It does not require you to know any type of coding, such as HTML or JavaScript. Simply install the blog onto your server and copy and paste the posts in order to put them on your website. This is all done on the backend via the administration panel. Almost all of them are fairly easy to use but some of them give you options that are not available in others. For example, automated spam control and being able to check, approve and delete comments are an important part of the process.

The most important part about looking at these blog software reviews is actually choosing the software that you want and getting it installed on your server so you can then begin posting to it and profiting from it.

Also, make sure to watch the video demonstrations of several blog software reviews at http://www.BloggingProductAnalysis.com. But HURRY…the videos will be pulled from the masses soon. In fact, if you act quickly you may still be able to grab the Blogging Secrets eCourse for FREE!

Want to Hire a Professional SEO Company?

March 27th, 2009

In efforts to increase sales and profitability, more and more companies are turning to online marketing initiatives – specifically, search engine optimization. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the art and science of the mixture of technical and marketing into a finely tuned website that is both search engine, ranks well for certain keywords and phrases, and suits your audience a perspective buyer and seller.

According to a recent American study found that only 20% of all businesses outsource search engine optimization programs to professional SEO Companys. The remaining 80% would be to conduct search engine optimization or they believe they have all the resources and skills to do it in-house. Of this 80%, it is likely that 90% of these companies can not be found on the Web – they do not exist. In order to generate a significant amount of Web visibility, your website must typically rank in the top-30 results.

So, the question boils down to what is in your best interest to the business?

Make your SEO program in-house or subcontract. To answer this question we will first focus on the knowledge, skills and resources necessary to implement and maintain a good program for search engine optimization.

SEO knowledge and skills

1) Basic understanding of how search engines and directories.

This may seem too obvious, but you would be surprised the number of people do not understand how they actually work. This knowledge is the basis of your SEO program.

2) Website design

Although SEO is not completely a technical marketing process, it requires a fair amount of technical knowledge of what constitutes search engine-friendly web design. Some elements of web design can help your search engine rankings or hurt them. Simply knowing who is who.

3) the experience SEO Expert

This is the most important and most difficult to obtain knowledge. If you have never implemented a programme of SEO, then you are in a big surprise. Search engine optimization programs require a lot of research and are extremely tedious. More importantly, they need real SEO experience. That means knowing what strategies and tactics SEO work and those who do not.

In-house vs. out-sourced programmes SEO

If your company is considering conducting your program search engine optimization in the house, here are some questions to consider.

  • Who will be responsible for the analysis, design, implementation and measure the success of your program SEO?
  • Is this considered the role of your department, marketing or other service (s) in your company?
  • Do they have the time, knowledge and resources to successfully implement and maintain your program search engine optimization? And do they really care if it works or not?

IT Department

Typically your IT department handles multiple tasks daily troubleshooting your company’s LAN or WAN to fixing the sales department laptop? Over a long IT person of the day, what priority and focus do you think he or she will commit to for your listing? And even if your IT department has some skills in web design or development, these skills represent only a small percentage of the knowledge required for a successful programme of search engine optimization.

Marketing Department

Typically, your marketing department juggles many marketing projects and the faces of both the timely completion. From handling new campaigns for print collateral is preparing to launch new products or services, marketing personnel’s time to spread very thin. In addition, our skills and your marketing department is in the technical aspects of web design and search engine optimization? Do they have the time to become well-versed? Do they have sufficient internal resources? Often, the answer to both questions is no, they do not.

Other individual (s) within your company

Well, the responsibility falls on someone outside or your marketing department. Who’s who and why are they responsible for your SEO program? To give interested parties a new “project of the month,” usually result in another tick off their monthly to-do list and frustration by senior management on their website is why not produce results sales.

Summary

From a business standpoint, it makes sense to try to mobilize domestic resources to maximize your company’s productivity and profitability – whenever possible. However, there must be a line drawn in the sand between what your organization’s capabilities are and what they are not.

As you can see, there are no more search engine optimization than meets the eye. In order to implement and maintain a SEO program, you must acquire the knowledge, skills and resources. This can be done by hiring a professional search engine optimization of the company. Professional SEO Companys have devoted their resources and experience to support your company’s web marketing initiatives. Building on their experience and know-how, your company can quickly and more effectively successfully implement the programme of SEO Expert.

So What Is A Social Network?

March 24th, 2009

Basically, a social network is made up of individuals or organizations that are connected through various social contacts ranging from casual acquaintances to family members. Social networks are established to encourage connections and communication to occur on a wide variety of levels.

A basis for the theory of social networking was a study performed by Stanley Milgram in 1967 that established that any two random United States citizens are connected to one another by a series of six intermediaries, on the average. This idea was made more popular by the play and subsequent movie, “Six Degrees of Separation”, as well as the television show “Six Degrees”. Current Internet experiments continue to explore this concept, such as the Ohio State Electronic Small World Project and Columbia’s Small World Project. These experiments currently confirm that five to seven degrees of separation are sufficient to connect two people through the Internet. This also serves to confirm the potential effectiveness of Internet social networks to build new connections between people.

The first Internet social network began in 1995 and has 12.9 million visitors today. This makes it difficult to comprehend the rule of 150, also known as the Dunbar number, that states that the size of a genuine social network is limited to about 150 members. Over 200 Internet social networking sites exist and the number of members that belong to most them steadily increases.

In an Internet social networking site, a group of founders sends messages to invite members to join the site. Those members then invite additional members and the links continue to grow. Some social networking sites offer viewable profiles for members, address books and online social connections on a social or business level. Many Internet social networks are open to the public.

Internet social networks are a convenient way to link with new people, both personally and professionally. Consider that the senior director of Nielson/NetRatings, Jon Gibs, states that Internet “…social networking is not a fad that will disappear. If anything, it will become more ingrained in mainstream sites.”

Web Hosting Advice And Information – How You Can Find A Cheap Web Hosting Package

March 24th, 2009

All webmasters will at some point face one question: how will I find a good and cheap web hosting provider?

The web hosting business is saturated with web hosting companies competing for your business. You’ll find everything from huge companies hosting hundreds of thousands of web sites, to the small reseller operating out of Mom’s garage. So how can you make an educated decision with all those options?

All web site hosting companies tend to have some similarities, although their main sales arguments are normally focused on two things; cost and bandwidth. A lot of the time people go for a sales pitch like that. Getting something that’s inexpensive is desirable to most folks, and if it seems to come with some great extras too, then all the better!

So if you are choosing between a web hosting company that’s offering a cheap web hosting plan with 50GB bandwidth for $10 per month, and a different hosting company that promises you a hosting plan with 500GB a month for five dollars, a lot of people will foolishly pick the second option. However, it is this type of logic that leads to disaster for many web hosting clients.

Sure, it’s great to save a few bucks – although do you believe a web hosting company is going to give great support and reliable service when you pay them almost nothing? The old saying “You get what you pay for” is very truthful, and the complete truth is you’re far more apt to receive great service if you keep clear of the really cheap web page hosting packages.

That being said, it is also true that the service quality can differ a lot betweeen web site hosting companies in the same price range. In truth, the one way of making sure you keep clear of the bad apples is to do a little of your own research. Check out places such as Web Hosting Talk to find out for yourself what real customers feel about the web hosting provider they use.

While there isn’t a web hosting company that will be liked by everybody, you will find that some have a lot more complaints than others. I have done extensive research on this and learned that while some web hosting providers may have mostly good reviews, other providers have mostly negative reviews. In conclusion: when looking for an affordable web hosting service, keep clear of the cheapest offers and do some research before you sign up.

My Top Website Traffic Generation Techniques

March 20th, 2009

I recently conducted a 2 1/2 hour teleseminar that I entitled “Website Traffic Generation Techniques That Work.” I conducted the teleseminar for two reasons:

  1. I was partnering with two esteemed clients/friends in creating an in-demand product. Our combined knowledge and experience guaranteed a website traffic generation product better than any similar product that I’d seen recently!
  2. I was tired of seeing so many people with websites getting practically ZERO traffic when it is so easy. I wanted to explain to my subscribers and clients, in a plain-English fashion, some very effective but simple methods of getting visitors to their websites.

My websites currently get so much traffic that, while we could always use more traffic, I no longer worry about getting website traffic. I’ve reached what my friend Jack Humphrey termed critical mass – that point at which one could actually stop promoting for a while and the traffic would continue.

When you look at website traffic generation – big picture – it’s just a matter of identifying where your ideal traffic is, and “standing in front of it!” Here’s are just a few ways that I do that. We covered many more in the teleseminar.

These are all fast and easy to implement:

  • Article Writing – Write 300 – 1000 word articles on topics that your market cares about. Make sure that the articles address a problem, worry or challenge that your market faces. In the article point them to solutions that they can find on your website. It’s that simple.
  • Affiliate Programs – With an affiliate program, you have others send you traffic, and you don’t spend a penny until that traffic converts into sales.

You can set up a simple affiliate program selling an ebook through Clickbank or PayDotCom.com and have an army of people working hard to send you customers in no time.

If you don’t have a product, you can take private label products, and with a little effort, create products that your market will be clamoring for, and that affiliates will be thrilled to market for you. The best duplicable SYSTEM that I’ve seen for doing this was developed by Louis Burleson. You can learn all about Louis’ easy to implement system at: http://NoHypeInternetMarketing.com/TheKey/

Ebay Sales – With over 100 million registered users, Ebay is simply too big to ignore as a source of traffic. The most important thing about that incredible number of Ebay users is that they are buyers. They visit Ebay with credit card in hand, and all you need to do is be there with the products that they are looking for.

By some estimates that I’ve seen, Ebay gets MORE searches per day than Google!

There are dozens of ways for you to lure some of those millions of visitors to your website. Ebay even makes it easy for you to sift through their database and see WHAT the most common things are that people are searching for. What could be easier? You sift through their database, determine what lots of their users are searching for and then create simple information product that cater to those concerns. Then you advertise on Ebay, extremely inexpensively, letting people know that you have the solutions over at your website.

Organic Search Engine Traffic – This seems mysterious or difficult to many people. However, if you understand that people visit the search engines seeking solutions to their problems, then it’s as simple as determining what problems a lot of people are searching for solutions to, creating solutions to those problems, and then making people aware of the solutions through content on your site.

As an example, this article addresses the massive problem of most websites not having enough traffic. It tells them of the solutions offered on my site, and finally the article facilitates the search engines telling searchers that my site is where they’ll find the solution. I’ll feed this article to the search engines through my article distribution channels.

Social Networking Sites - Sites such as MySpace, Youtube, and dozens of bookmarking sites, get millions of users every day. MySpace rapidly grew into the sixth most visited site on the Internet.

MySpace users set up accounts and conveniently categorize themselves into interest groups. Using very simple techniques, you can redirect massive traffic from MySpace to your website. You can also build your mailing list by interacting with targeted niches on MySpace. The other social networking sites function similarly.

One of the easiest ways to get massive, extremely targeted traffic is through joint ventures. Through joint ventures, you get those who already have the attention, trust, and loyalty of the traffic, to send their traffic to your sales page. This is totally risk free and one of the easiest and fastest ways to grow a web business.

Through organizations such as The International Association Of Joint Venture Brokers (IAJVB), you find large list owners, product owners, or joint venture brokers. You set up huge, mutually beneficial partnerships, and leverage your combined assets. You can get more information on using IAJVB at: http://TheInternationalAssociationOfJointVentureBrokers.com

In the teleseminar, we also covered generating an endless flood of highly targeted visitors through methods such as publishing a newsletter, blogging, creating viral ebooks and software, creating educational or entertaining multi- media products, etc. We showed that there as so many ordinary, easily-implement traffic generation methods that there really is no reason for any website to suffer from a lack of traffic.

Actually, I’ll retract that statement. Your website does have to be about something that people are interested in. There does have to be enough people in the world interested in your niche to offer you a pool of people that you can “stand in front of.” I’ve just shared with you my top website traffic generation technique. Now all you need to do is implement them. You can discover many more by listening to the MP3 recordings or reading the PDF transcripts from my recent teleseminar at: http://TrafficGenerationTechniquesThatwork.com

Finding an SEO Company

March 20th, 2009

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is critical to the success of many Internet businesses because SEO helps drive traffic to your Internet site. SEO is the process of making your Internet site appear higher in the search engine rankings for particular keywords or key phrases. A keyword or key phrase is a word or combination of words that people use to find information on a particular subject. For example, if a person wanted to find information on repairing a calculator, a person may search the Internet using the key phrase “how to repair a calculator.” There may well be many results but the person would probably only review the first page advertisers rather than scroll through several pages.

SEO is difficult because it constantly evolves and because it is not an exact science. As more Internet sites come online, as current Internet sites add links, lose links, add keywords and/or key phrases, and as the importance of keywords and/or key phrases increases or decreases, your SEO efforts will be affected. Additionally, depending on how a search engine calculates “relevance,” your Internet site may appear higher in the search results for certain search engines but appear lower on others. As such, you have to constantly be aware of the latest trends and content. Thus, if you are not constantly monitoring the ever changing environment of SEO, you will lose portions of your very important search engine traffic.

Theoretically, it is possible to monitor and conduct your own SEO, but because you have to worry about updating your content, driving traffic from other sources, and obtaining sales, your efforts will not be as efficient or as effective as will be the efforts of a professional SEO company. Therefore, the best thing for your Internet business is to hire a professional SEO company.

A great way to find a good SEO company is to use the search engines. This approach makes the most sense because you are hiring a company to optimize your search engine ranking and traffic. As such, the SEO company that appears first in the search engine results is obviously great at utilizing its strategies to dominate the search engines. That being said, be weary of companies that talk big but produce little results. It does not make sense to use a company that does not follow its own advice.

If you do not feel comfortable randomly selecting an SEO company off of the search engine results, you can always seek a referral from friends or colleagues in the business. If you make your living out of your Internet site, chances are you have made many contacts in the Internet business. As such, a referral from somebody who has a relationship with a company is a great way to find a one.

These are the two best ways to find an SEO company for your Internet marketing needs. As such, use either one or both of these methods and you should be able to find a quality SEO company. Do not expect miracles. It takes time to get a good position in the rankings and will not happen overnight. You should see some improved results after a couple of months.

Social Bookmarking for Internet Marketers

March 18th, 2009

Social bookmarking is one of the hottest Web 2.0 online trends. The concept of social bookmarking is about 10 years old, but due to it’s recent explosive growth, it has just now become one of the new internet “buzz words”.

It’s important for internet marketers to understand social book marking and how it can help them promote their products and services.

So, what is social bookmarking? What is social bookmarking’s purpose? Why is social bookmarking important to internet marketers?

What is Social Bookmarking? You are probably already familiar with bookmarking web sites, that you want to visit again, using your Internet Explorer or Firefox web browser. The bookmarks you create to these sites are for your personal use and are stored on your computer.

Social Bookmarking is the next step in bookmarking, where you and others can share bookmarks to web sites you think may be of interest to others. This is done via Social Bookmarking services. After you have signed up for the Social Bookmarking service, you will be allowed to register a website, site description and tags (keywords) with the service – this is a bookmark. You will also be allowed to share this bookmark, or you can keep it private (depending on the service). This information is stored by the Social Bookmarking service, and is not stored on your computer.

What is Social Bookmarking’s Purpose? There are really two major purposes behind social bookmarking.

1. The main purpose of social bookmarking is to have people with like interests bookmarks sites that they think would be useful, or interesting, to others who have the same interests. For example, I love fly fishing. Let’s say I find a site that contains some great custom-built fly fishing rods for an inexpensive price. I would bookmark that site with one of several possible bookmarking services. I would give the site I’m bookmarking a title, a description and tags (keywords) related to inexpensive custom built fly fishing rods. I would make sure the bookmark is set to public so others could find it, and would then have have created a social bookmark.

Now when people search the social bookmarking service, using the tag words used to define the bookmarked sites, they are presented with a list of related sites. Using our fly fishing example above – When someone searches for “fly fishing rods” they would be given a list of related sites, including the custom fly fishing rod site we bookmarked. Most bookmarking services also have a rating system so the most popular sites are at the top of the list.

2. Another great benefit of social bookmarking is, once you have social bookmarked your favorite sites, you can easily find those bookmarked sites from any computer connected to the internet. You simply log into the online social bookmarking service and find the website you bookmarked. This can be very helpful if you have many websites you like to monitor, when you are away from home and you are not at your primary computer.

Why is social bookmarking important to internet marketers? Since social bookmarking sites are generally very popular sites that get a lot of traffic, they have high Google page ranks and are visited often by search engines. Submitting your site to the social bookmarking services, increases the chance your site will be crawled by the search engines. I have seen my sites crawled by Google only one day after registering my site to social bookmarking services.

Submitting to social bookmarking services is also a great way to get one way, incoming, high page rank links coming to your website which helps increase your page rank.

But most importantly, if your website is seen as having value to a group of people, your bookmark can be rated highly and can create a ton of very targeted traffic to your website.

Social bookmarking is growing at a phenomenal rate and if you want to market on the internet, you need to add social bookmarking to your set of internet marketing tools.
